In terms of the partner, BOWT has the network in the innovative book with The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology, IPST in the part of science, math, and society books. For the Thai book, BOWT may join with the private organization.

Funding for free education

Parents despite the government's scheme to provide more funding for free education nationwide. The director of a leading state-run school in Bangkok, who asked not to be named, said the funding scheme did not stop most schools, particularly some 30,000 schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec), from asking the parents of their students to pay extra school fees.

Major state-run schools, including his school, charged extra fees for this year's new semester starting this month, the director said. The rates varied from 3,000-4,000 baht per head. Some top schools charged up to 6,000 baht per head, he added. The director said the extra fees were needed to cover the costs of educational database and computer equipment, accident insurance, security guard services and the upkeep of the school.

Under the new government scheme to support 14 years of free education, funding for kindergarten pupils will be increased to 1,700 baht per head per year from 600 baht previously. Elementary school students will receive 1,900 baht per head per year, up from 1,100 baht. Secondary students will get 3,500 baht, up from 1,800 baht. High school students will get 3,800 baht, up from 2,700 baht.
